USC/UCLA EMT COURSE
Enrollment for the USC/UCLA EMT Spring 2026 course has officially CLOSED.
Please read the information provided below regarding general course information for Fall 2026. PLEASE NOTE: ALL INFORMATION BELOW IS SUBJECT TO CHANGE.
COURSE INFORMATION
What are the dates for the Fall 2026 course?
Based on the schedule for the Fall 2025 course, the program begins in mid-September and ends in late November. ALL DATES ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE.
What is the structure of the course?
Our USC/UCLA EMT course is a two-month, accelerated hybrid EMT program. The course schedule for a given week runs as follows:
- Mondays and Wednesdays (6 – 9 PM): online lecture
- Saturdays (8 AM – 5:30 PM): in-person skills sessions in the USC Village
What is the time commitment for the course?
Our EMT course is accelerated, meaning that students are typically expected to dedicate a minimum of 15.5 hours per week: 6 hours for online lectures and 9.5 hours for in-person skills. This does not include time outside the course to study and review course materials. The workload is often compared to that of a 4-unit course.
Attendance is MANDATORY for all online lectures and in-person skills. Multiple and/or repeated absences will jeopardize your ability to complete the course.
Please review the Absences section thoroughly on the UCLA CPC – EMT FAQs page for more information.
REGISTRATION
How can I register?
Registration is done completely on the UCLA Center for Prehospital Care website. You will receive a unique password to access the USC/UCLA EMT Course registration page. This is done so that ONLY USC students are able to access course registration. Steps to register and receive the password will be released on this page once registration is opened.
Is there a deadline to register?
Registration is FIRST COME, FIRST SERVE. Registration remains open until the course reaches maximum enrollment. It is highly encouraged to register as soon as possible since spots are limited.
If I was unable to register for the Spring 2026 course, how can I be notified about registration for the Fall course once it opens?
You may complete our USC/UCLA EMT Fall 2026 Interest Form to receive registration details directly via email. Our website and Instagram will also be updated with registration information.
COURSE FAQs
Are there prerequisites for the course?
You MUST be a USC student at the time of registration. Prerequisites specific to the course are NOT required at the time of registration. Please visit the UCLA CPC – Prerequisites page for more information on course prerequisites.
Do I need to have my BLS CPR certification prior to the course?
BLS CPR certification is NOT required to be obtained before the course begins. As with other prerequisites, certification must be obtained before the mandatory EMT ride-alongs.
BLS certification is available as an add-on for $75 as you check out for the USC/UCLA EMT program via the UCLA CPC website, which covers both the BLS course and in-person skills testing.
You may also receive your BLS CPR certification outside of UCLA CPC, as long as the certification is received from either the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross. EMSC offers affordable BLS certification classes through Red Cross. Please refer to our EMSC CPR Course Registration Form or follow our Instagram to sign up for our current BLS classes.
How much does the course cost?
Course fees can be directly found upon logging into the UCLA CPC website for the USC/UCLA EMT course. However, an outline of the course fees is included below:
- Course Fee: $1595
- Nonrefundable Deposit: $100
- Required Materials: $388.37
These fees do NOT cover the cost to take the NREMT exam or receive your license. All fees are internally used to cover the course itself. ALL FEES ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE.
Is there financial aid available for the course?
Financial aid opportunities are not currently offered for the course. However, we are currently in the process of providing scholarship opportunities for the Fall 2026 course. We will release updates once confirmed on our website and Instagram.
Please visit the UCLA CPC – EMT Finances page for further information on other available payment options (payment plans, external scholarships, etc). You may contact cpc@mednet.ucla.edu directly with any specific financial inquiries.
Is it possible to complete the course if I am taking rigorous classes and/or participating in many extracurriculars?
While many students with rigorous academic schedules or commitments have successfully completed the course, we encourage you to carefully consider whether you will be able to commit sufficient time to meet the demands of the program alongside your existing responsibilities.
Can I receive USC credits/units for this course?
Our course does NOT count for official USC course credits as it is not an accredited USC class.
Can I register for a course in the Summer?
